Initial Assessment
Once you have made contact and we agree to an initial assessment you will receive an initial email with further details. The initial assessment last for about 90 minutes and provides an opportunity for me to find out more about the current difficulties, establish what you would like to get out of the therapy sessions and plan further sessions together. This first session also gives you a chance to find out more about the therapy I offer and ask any questions you might have about the process. Alternatively, if after assessment you feel that psychological therapy or counselling is not for you, I am happy to provide you with information regarding alternative sources of psychological support.

Therapeutic Support
After assessment, therapy sessions are usually agreed in advance and will last for 50 minutes. Sessions are usually booked weekly or fortnightly. Psychological therapy can last for any number of sessions depending on the nature of the problem and your own wishes. However, you are free to stop sessions at any point, regardless of the agreed time-frame.

Online Therapy
Currently I am only offering sessions remotely, online via video chat. There is a growing body of research supporting the effectiveness of online therapy for treating mental health issues. Having worked in online mental health for the past 5 years, I have seen the effectiveness and benefits of working online. I use video chat which happens in real time via an appointment we would have agreed on. Online therapy might not be for everyone, but it can have it's advantages, like reduced commute time, accessing therapy from the comfort of your home, not limiting you to support based on geographical location.

Confidentiality & Data Protection
In providing the above services, I adhere to strict confidentiality, within the boundaries of safeguarding (ie. unless I am concerned that you the client or other people are in danger in which case I will discuss with you the client informing the appropriate external agencies). I keep computerised records of sessions/consultations. This information is securely kept and solely for my use and the details will not be passed onto anyone else without your permission. I may discuss aspects of our work with colleagues during professional supervision but will keep identifying details anonymous.
Fees & Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. Unfortunately appointments not attended without prior notification or with less than a 48 hour notice period will be charged at the usual rate.
